Padel is still a young sport in Sri Lanka, but the foundations are taking shape. The federation has brought players together through tournaments and community activities across the country, creating regular opportunities to compete, make new connections and discover the sport. Its priority is that opportunities for players grow alongside the facilities.

What the federation is doing

Four areas of work, all of them the federation's

01

A route into the sport

The federation wants people to see a clear path from trying padel for the first time to representing their country. That begins with accessible courts, good coaching and regular competition — with Brisbane 2032 as a long-term aspiration.

02

A calendar that keeps people playing

By the end of 2026 the federation expects to have delivered 6–7 major events, more than 60 social events and more than 100 mini events, across men's, women's and mixed categories and a range of playing levels.

03

Coaching and junior development

Sri Lanka already has FIP Level 1-certified coaches and coaches certified through the Portuguese Padel Federation. Alongside them, the federation is developing a school-level programme for students aged 14 and above and a high-performance pathway for promising players.

04

Performance analysis with the University of Moratuwa

With Sri Lanka's leading university for engineering and information technology, the federation is developing hardware that uses visual analysis to study player performance. The work is still under development.

The federation also runs its own player and competition system, covering ratings, rankings, live scoring, court booking and access to coaching.
